THIS IS KAMPALA

This is Kampala
Sleepless town
Midnight snacks
Yam, cassava and gonja
Dug out of steaming banana leaves
In large saucepans

This is Kampala
Friendly faces, wide grins
Dusty suburbs
Sigiris and bodabodas
Skipping rolex stalls
Inviting aromas of somersaulting chicken

This is Kampala
Snail paced evening jams
Dehydrated traffic men
Impatient fathers
Rushing the kids home
but more so to catch the AfCON game

This is Kampala
Rising buildings
Potholes and reckless dogs
Occasssional herdsmen
with malnourished cattle
On the Northern bypass

This is Kampala
Enthusiastic street preachers
Jaywalking school kids
Loud music
Screaming hawkers
Middle-aged men jogging
To burn off the xxx fat

This is Kampala
Sudden rains
Hailstorms and power cuts
Fallen aged trees
VIP mpenkoni's abusing traffic rules
Angry phonecallers
On political shows

This is Kampala
My Kampala
Wouldn't trade it for the World
Need to prepare it for the World
Will you join me?

  2. Wow that's our kampala city. The fact is in every country or city there are both positive and negative aspects within them. We should join hands together and make our city a better place than complaining about it's negative aspects
